What I'm consuming, Summer 2022

The Bear (FX)

We're foodies, but we love this take on a James Beard winning chef coming to bail out a restaurant he inherited. We love a lot of the characters, especially Sydney. And Carmie. And all of them. Great characters on this show.

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

This is probably the best book I've ever read. The book was written by Blake Crouch during a divorce, and the main character explores quantum physics through the lens of something we can all relate to: the path that we didn't take. If each decision we made split the universe, how fragmented would we become over time between those worlds?

Intuitive Eating: A Revolutionary Anti-Diet Approach by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch

Have you heard of Noom, the behavioral eating app. This book is similar, but in book form. It's about unwiring the little ways that we've been preconditioned to deal with food - by understanding how we overeat, how we undereat, and how we fail at diets and weight loss.

Only Murders in the Building, Season 2

This show just appeals to my 90's sense of humor. Martin Short and Steve Martin are fabulous, and I've learned to like Selena Gomez too. The characters are great in this season, and the mystery does not disappoint.

Leviathan Wakes (Expanse book 1) by James S. A. Corey

This is a great space opera - the drama is great. Without revealing too much about this sci-fi/horror/drama book, I'll say that the science is not too hard on science. It's believable that humanization would expand to Mars and the belt, that humanity would be shaped by it, and that the dynamics would play as in this book. Bonus points for all the Mormon jokes.
